About IRCG

Vision

A just and sustainable future for Latin America.

Mission
Develop transformative solutions based on science, evidence-based policy and advanced legislation to guarantee a sustainable future in Latin America.

IRCG arises because of several converging circumstances

The scientific community warns that we have crossed more than half of the planetary limits that make human life on Earth sustainable. The countries with the least capacity to adapt to this new reality, such as most Latin American countries, will be the most affected by extreme weather events.

The combination of unsustainable economic activities, the discrimination and inequalities underlying the Latin American context, and the widespread injustices and human rights violations make marginalized people the most recurrent victims of ecological imbalances and climate change.

Latin America is the deadliest region in the world for environmental preservation and protection activism.

Linking science to the legal and political spheres in Latin America represents a real challenge since the region lacks the resources, technology, and experience to effectively support the application of public policies or undertake lines of action based on objective evidence.

   .

To achieve transformative actions that advance Nature's protection, sustainability, and access to justice in Latin America, the IRCG has and collaborates with a team of experts who provide robust prescriptions based on scientific evidence with legal and public policy feasibility.

  Values

Justice

We want to protect those unfairly bearing most of the costs of environmental degradation and promote harmony with Nature. Accordingly, we look at all aspects of environmental justice: intergenerational, procedural, recognition, distributive, compensatory, restitutive, and corrective.

Transparency

We are transparent and truthful in our relationships with our partners, supporters, and the broader public. Likewise, our scientific, legal, and policy research and outcomes are governed by transparency, for which they will be openly available to the public.

Integrity

We raised our work to the highest standards with scientific integrity and bounded to justice and equity to be reliable, trustworthy, and effective.

Togetherness

We aim to join forces with stakeholders and the public to protect and restore Nature. Cooperation is critical for strengthening capabilities, protecting human rights, and addressing environmental injustices.
